Churchill’s
Cabinets Ltd., who are the UK’s No. 1 manufacturer of radiator
covers/cabinets, were established in March 2007. Initially just based
in Handforth, Cheshire, the company now has an Operations warehouse and
quality control centre in Cheadle, Cheshire, and a delivery/quality
control centre in Chertsey, Surrey.
At the Churchill’s Cabinets
head office in Handforth, Cheshire, the company’s field sales,
telesales, marketing and accounts functions are carried out. This head
office in Handforth, Cheshire, also organises and carries out full
sales training programmes for its team of Nationwide Home Designers.
At the Cheadle depot, radiator cabinets/covers are
delivered to a quarantined quality control area from its two
manufacturing bases. When the radiator cabinets arrive, they come fully
assembled and fully painted. A quality control inspector will check in
each batch of radiator cabinets/covers delivered the name of the
customers the radiator cabinets/covers has been made for. The name is
written on the safety travel bar for ease of identification. The
radiator cabinet/cover is then measurement checked. This covers the
height of the radiator cabinet/cover, the width of the radiator
cabinet/cover and the depth of the radiator cabinet/cover. This ensures
that the customer who has ordered their bespoke radiator cabinet/cover
is going to get a radiator cabinet/cover made to their exact size
specification. If the dimensions are correct, the quality control
inspection continues, checking next that the detachable magnetic front
of the radiator cabinet/cover fits perfectly to the radiator
cabinet/cover carcass ie flush. Once this part of the test has
been carried out and passed, the cabinet is manually checked for
smoothness and consistency of paintwork. The quality control inspector
has to ensure that there are no bobbles, bubbles, scratches or marks of
any kind and that the painted finish is perfectly comfortable to the
touch. The other quality inspection procedures include checking whether
the grille is the correct style and of the correct material, eg
painted grille or gold anodised grille. Also the radiator cabinet/cover
will be checked at the corners, to check that the round edge or square
edge corner has been manufactured exactly to the customers’ order.
If any part of the quality control inspection doesn’t come up to the company’s strict quality requirements, the radiator cabinet/cover will be returned to one of the company’s two manufacturing factories for correction. |
